Only one more episode left in the backlog of reviews. This episode will go down as the most contentious of them all. The original recording went over the three hour mark, with a full hour being spent on just the Arcade Fire album. There was laughing, there was yelling, and there was blood and tears spilt all over the floor. Unfortunately, due to trying to keep this podcast under two hours, I edited most of it out. However, the good stuff I kept in… and it was probably some of the best reviewing of an album that we’ve ever done. The podcast is long, but I think it’s worth it. Enjoy!
A quick note about when and how this was recorded. Usually, this podcast is recorded on a mixer with set microphones and a small table. I feed all out music through the mixer and into headphones for everyone. All our end of the year recordings happen at our Polygraph Record Christmas party. This year, I wanted to make it a little more loose and fun, so we had four mics, passed them around, and listened to the music over the speakers and I added in the music post-production. Well, by the end of the recording, most people had a lot to drink and that meant a lot of craziness in the editing. I did the best I could and in retrospect, I think we won’t be doing this again.
So, after a long editing session, horns up fuckers, it’s Brian’s best of 2013 list…
1. Thee Oh Sees – Floating Coffin
And now for something a little different. Rachel runs down her best of 2013 and you’ll find a lot more here if your tastes run into the pop category.
List in order:

2. Portugal. The Man – Evil Friends
3. The National – Trouble Will Find Me
4. Arcade Fire – Reflektor
5. Lorde – Pure Heroine
